Congratulations pour in for India’s new World Cup champions, BCCI announces cash rewards

Congratulations have poured in after the Indian Under-19 cricket team outplayed Australia in the final to lift the coveted trophy for the fourth time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Absolutely thrilled by the stupendous achievement of our young cricketers. Congratulations to them on winning the Under-19 World Cup. This triumph makes every Indian extremely proud.”

Congress president Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Congratulations Team India on your resounding U 19 Cricket World Cup win! India takes great pride in the success of its new generation of cricket stars. #U19CWCFinal.”

Virat Kohli, the charismatic captain of the senior Indian cricket team, congratulated the World Cup Champions asking them to enjoy the moment adding that they had a long way to go.

He wrote, “What a win for the U19 boys, take it as a stepping stone; Long long way to go! Enjoy the moment!

The BCCI has announced cash rewards of Rs 50 lakh for the coach, Rahul Dravid adding that Rs 30 lakh will be given to each member of the World Cup winning team, while the support staff will get Rs 20 lakh each.

India had beaten the arch rival Pakistan by over 200 runs in the semi-final.

  1. This man has time to comment on every issue (this though is a big issue and deserves praise from the PM) but where is he when his saffron goons are terrorising people trying to celebrate Independence day? Why can’t he comment then?
