The biggest upset in Uttarakhand elections so far is loss of chief minister Harish Rawat from Haridwar rural, where his daughter Anupama Rawat was election in-charge. Most stalwarts of BJP including Satpal Maharaj, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Prakash Pant and Ajay Bhatt are leading.
The BJP is set to dislodge the Congress in Uttarakhand and has swept the hill state. The Congress is leading in only those seats where either their individual candidates were strong or there was infighting in the BJP.
Of the 70 seats for which trends were available, the BJP was seen as leading in 55, the Congress in 11 and others in four seats. The assembly has 70 members and the halfway mark is 36.
