A PDP leader in Kashmir has slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decision to flaunt his image as chowkidar (watchman) on social media. Speaking to reporters in Jammu on Sunday, Firdous Tak said that this chowkidar was also a rapist.
“Chowkidar chor hai since many individuals looted this country and fled,” news agency quoted Tak as saying. His tirade didn’t end here. Highlighting the allegations of corruption in the Rafale deal, Tak said that the ‘chowkidar was also a fraud.’
Tak, according to ANI, also added, “Chowkidar kaatil bhi hai, mein Akhlaq ki baat kar raha hun, Chowkidar rapist bhi hai, mein Asifa ki baat kar raha hun. (Chwokidar is also a murderer and I am talking about Mohammed Akhlaq. Chowkidar is also a rapist and I am talking about Asifa)”

Mohammed Akhlaq was lynched to death by BJP supporters in 2015 on suspicion of consuming and storing beef in his house in Dadri village of Uttar Pradesh. Modi had come under widespread condemnation for not speaking against the terrible act. His minister Mahesh Sharma had gone to pay his last respect to one of the killers after he died of dengue. His body was brought to his village by wrapping in the Indian national flag.
8-year-old Kashmiri girl Asifa was killed after being gang-raped inside a Hindu temple by Hindutva fanatics in January last year. Senior BJP leaders had taken part in a rally, organised to protest the arrests of Asifa’s alleged rapists and killers. Even the local lawyers had joined the protest, making the trial incredibly difficult in the local court in Kathua.
The case was later shifted to Punjab.
The PDP was in alliance with the BJP but the saffron party had pulled out of the coalition government in June last year.
