A Wildlife Crime Control Bureau volunteer in Delhi has registered a complaint against Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu for allegedly bringing a stuffed Black Partridge.
Sandeep Jain told news agency ANI, “I got to know through newspapers that Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu brought a stuffed Black Partridge from Pakistan and gifted it to Punjab Chief Minister. This is violation of Wildlife Protection Act 1972.”
Jain added that he had filed a complaint with Wildlife Crime Control Bureau. He said, “I have registered a complaint with Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, New Delhi demanding a probe on how the Black Partridge was brought from Pakistan and kept in Punjab for so long. It’s illegal to keep an animal or a bird or their body parts without any permission.”
Sidhu had met Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday when he gifted the replica of Black Partridge to him. This was his first meeting since his return from Pakistan for the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor.
Singh had asked him to not travel to Pakistan but Sidhu reportedly refused. This, according to reports, had caused fissures between the two and the Wednesday’s meeting was being seen as an attempt to diffuse the tension.
