Cabinet nod to coastal shipping between India & Bangladesh


The Cabinet today approved an agreement on coastal shipping between India and Bangladesh for transportation of goods.

The commencement of coastal shipping between the two nations will give a boost to Exim trade between the two countries.

During negotiations held in April this year, India and Bangladesh had aslo agreed on extension of Protocol on Inland Water Transit and Trade (PIWTT) with the provision of automatic renewal.

This is in line with the proposed amendment to the Bangladesh-India trade agreement. This will help PIWTT to be automatically renewed after five years.
