BJP’s IT Cell head Amit Malviya has once again been caught peddling doctored video to defame a political opponent of his party. This was after Swaraj India chief Yogendra Yadav recently embarrassed him in a LIVE TV debate on India Today.
While taking part in a TV debate, Malviya had accused Yadav, who is also a well-respected psephologist in India, of playing caste politics. Taking a dim view of Malviya’s allegations, Yadav had revealed how his grandfather was murdered by a Muslim man in front of his father, who was only seven-year-old then. According to Yadav, his father was a true Gandhian and, therefore, decided not to respond the hateful act of his father’s murderer with hate.
He said, “But those were the days of Mahatma Gandhi. He could have become one of persons like you (Malviya), he could have become someone who shouts like you Hindus, Hindus, Hindus. He was a disciple of Gandhi. It transformed his heart and he decided to give every one of his children a Muslim name. Now, I do not think it is possible for someone like you to appreciate. In any other countries, someone would have written novels about him….I do not know if people like you are capable of understanding the human sensitivity of this kind.”

Yadav concluded his argument by challenging Malviya to produce the evidence showing he used his identity for the purpose of winning elections. “I will withdraw from public life forever. Otherwise, please shut up,” he concluded.
Yadav’s video went viral as he earned plaudits from everyone on social media. Those applauding Yadav also vilified Malviya for being silenced by the Swaraj India chief.
A day later, a visibly hurt Malviya posted a video clip of Yadav’s speech that he made before a group of Muslims in Mewat in Haryana. While posting the video, Malviya wrote, “I usually don’t carry TV debates to social media but making an exception to expose
@_YogendraYadav’s janus face. Here is a video where he can be seen bragging his Muslim identity to a largely Muslim audience in Muslim dominated Mewat. If this isn’t cynical politics, then what is?”
In the video posted by Malviya (watch below), Yadav was heard sharing the same story to a group of people. He was heard saying, “Sorry, but I will take just one minute of yours. Many of you would know that my grandfather died in a Hindu-Muslim riots. This was in 1936. He was murdered in Hisar with a machete. A Muslim mob had killed him. Now imagine a condition of a seven-year-old boy who saw his father being murdered with a machete. He could have easily hated Muslims all his life. But he decided to give Muslim names to his children. That’s how I was named Salim.”
Yadav took to Twitter to share the full video of his speech to prove that Malviya had doctored the original clip. In the unedited video, Yadav was also heard expressing his dislike for the RSS. But Malviya edited this part in his video that he shared on Twitter.
This is what Yadav had said in the original video, “Now imagine a condition of a seven-year-old boy who saw his father being murdered with a machete. He could have easily hated Muslims all his life. He could have joined the RSS. It would have been a simple matter. But that man decided that neither will he a Hindu nor Muslim. He’s a child of a human being and he will remain a human being and he decided to give Muslim names to his children. That’s how I was named Salim.”
Sharing the original video, Yadav wrote, “Clinching evidence that
@amitmalviya had doctored the few seconds video he has circulated. Just listen to this small fragment from my speech. BJP lie factory cut out my words: “na Hindu Banega na Musalman Banega”! Also: “nafrat ja jawab Mohabbat se Dena hai” Are we surprised?”
