The war of words between the Congress and the BJP has intensified ever since the Election Commission announced the dates for the Lok Sabha polls. With stakes so high, the two rival parties appear in no mood to miss any opportunity to embarrass each other.
The Congress on Thursday had announced that party had planned an important press conference at 10.15 am on Friday. However, on Friday morning, the party said that the scheduled press conference had been deferred to 1 pm. It said, “Special Press Conference is deferred to 1.00 PM instead of 10.15 AM at AICC HQ. Inconvenience is regretted.” Nowhere in its note did the Congress state that the press conference will be addressed by Rahul Gandhi.
The BJP took to Twitter to troll the Congress and asked if this was because Rahul Gandhi had failed to wake up in time. The tweet posted by the BJP from its official Twitter handle read, “It seems Rahul Gandhi can’t wake up in the morning. Anyway, it’s better not to spread lies in the morning :)”
The Congress replied, “Morning, noon or night, we’d be happy to hear ChorChowkidar give a press conference – that is, if he’s able to.”

The said press conference was later addressed by Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, who sensationally revealed that a new diary had indicated that former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader, BS Yeddyurappa, had paid Rs 1800 crore in bribe to senior BJP leaders including Arun Jaitley.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken to Twitter to attack Rahul Gandhi for a controversial comment made by one of the key aides of the Congress president. This was after, Sam Pitroda, had implied that punishing Pakistan for the terrorist attacks, carried out by a selected few, was not a good idea.
