BJP says Uttarakhand CM involved in liquor scam

BJP on Wednesday claimed it had accessed a sting tape which the party said exposed the corruption of Uttarakhand’s chief minister Harish Rawat.

BJP’s Nirmala Sitharaman said that Rawat, Congress chief minister, must resign as he along with his PA was involved in a liquor scam during the Uttarakhand floods.

However, the authenticity of the sting has not been independently verifled yet.

Reacting to this stunning claim by the BJP, Rawat said that “we need to check the authenticity of the tape.”

He said, ” The cabinet sets the liquor policy and we have not given any license to private players. There is no change in liquor license policy. When we have not changed the policy, how can they (BJP) accuse us?”

Moments later, the Uttarakhand government announced that Rawat’s secretary had been suspended,

BJP is currently facing the heat on the alleged involvement of its senior leaders in various corruption cases. Opposition parties led by Congress has not allowed the parliament to function unless PM Narendra Modi sacked Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
