BJP MLA, who allegedly hit police horse arrested, BJP says he’s been ‘kidnapped’


A day after the Uttarakhand police horse Shaktiman had its led amputated, the state police arrested the BJP MLA, Ganesh Joshi, who had allegedly hit the horse with cane during a protest on Monday.

Joshi was arrested in Dehradun on Friday morning.

However, the state BJP President, Ajay Bhatt, alleged that Joshi may have been kidnapped.

He told ANI, “Ye apharan hain, kyunki identify nhi ho paaya hai ki police thi ya gunde the.(This is abduction because we could not identify whether the people who took Joshi away were police personnel or goons). He (Ganesh Joshi) was gheraoed by people who came in civil dress. We will raise this issue in Assembly.”

Police has already arrested a BJP worker in connection with this case.

Meanwhile, the suspended BJP MP, Kirti Azad, on Friday said that the attackers of Shaktiman must be punished severely because the attack on the horse was tantamount to attacking a policeman on duty.

He said, “Shaktiman was on police duty as any other officer on duty the day he was mauled and not as any other animal. Strict punishment demanded.”
