BJP leader arrested for alleged molestation of a 13-year-old girl in flight


Police in Gujarat arrested a local BJP leader after a 13-year-old girl complained that he had physically harassed her on a flight from Goa to Ahmedabad last Friday.

He was arrested on Tuesday morning before being booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, reported NDTV.

The 41-year-old BJP leader, Ashok Makwana, is a vice-president in the Gandhinagar unit of the BJP, Gujarat’s ruling party.

The minor’s parents told police that the passenger seated next to their daughter had molested her.

The police said when they obtained the records from the airlines, they found that the seat next to the teen was booked in the name of Makwana’s friend.

The two men, according to the report quoting police, had exchanged seats after boarding the flight.
