BJP demands Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation after extraordinary press release by Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi CM attacks EC

The BJP on Sunday demanded the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the Chief Electoral Officer in the national capital issued an extraordinary press statement asking the cops to intervene.

Quoting the press release by Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, BJP MP Vijay Goel tweeted, “@ArvindKejriwal must resign after the Press Release of @CeodelhiOffice requesting the Commissioner of Delhi Police to investigate the matter of misleading call to the citizens of Delhi that their names have been deleted.”

A visibly furious Kejriwal replied with an attack on the Election Commission and how the BJP had converted the poll body into one of its party offices. He wrote, “Ur ECs shud resign for converting EC into BJP office. Shameful Modi ji has subverted every institution. We will not allow BJP to succeed in its conspiracies. Police are yours, EC are yours. Don’t get them to do such dirty works. This country is bigger than an individual or a party.”

Kejriwal has long complained that names of lakhs of voters in Delhi have been deleted mysteriously. On Saturday, Kejriwal had claimed that Election Commission had given his party a list of 24 lakh deleted names. He had added that an inquiry by his government had found some deletions wrong.

His tweet had read, “EC gave AAP list of 24 lakh names deleted in Del
1. Del govt enqries in some deletions found them wrong? Why EC protecting those officers?
2. Why EC not allowing Del govt to do enquiries in all deletions? EC itself didn’t conduct enquiries. AAP won’t allow telengana it in Del.”

Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, in his press note, on Sunday asked the Commissioner of Delhi Police to intervene and take appropriate actions. The Delhi CEO took strong view of AAP workers allegedly phoning potential voters and informing them about the deletion of their names from the voters’ list.
