BJP Bengal chief, who made light of molestation, is a blot on politics, he should resign: DCW chief


Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal has branded the Bengal BJP chief, Dilip Ghosh, as a ‘blot on politics’ demanding his immediate resignation.


Maliwal tweeted, “Shameless, disgusting medieval statement by BJP leader. Party should seek his resignation immediately. He is blot on politics.”

Ghosh had said in Kolkata on Saturday, “If women are so concerned about their safety, why do they shamelessly participate in any protest.”

He earned public outrage by saying that the women at Jadavpur University, who were allegedly molested by ABVP activists, were ‘shameless’ for participating in protests and deserved no sympathy.

ANI quoted him as saying that the women intentionally threw themselves at the accused men.

Ghosh made the remarks while reacting to allegations of molestation by students last week during a scuffle between ABVP and Left-leaning students.

The clash was over screening of Vivek Agnihotri’s film, Buddha in a Traffic Jam, on May 6 on the varsity campus.

As per reports, at least four women had allegedly been molested by ABVP workers and complaints were filed with the police.
