Shatrughan Sinha’s meeting with Nitish Kumar gives rise to speculation

BJP’s MP from Patna, Satrughan Sinha, met the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday evening. His meeting with the Bihar CM came on the day when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also the BJP’s face in the upcoming assembly elections was visiting Bihar.

The bollywood actor-turned-politician was also present on stage, where Modi announced a host of developmental projects for Bihar.

Sinha, however, denied any political motive behind this motive.

He said, “It was a courtesy call and I consider him as guardian of the state. If I go and meet him over a cup of tea, no meaning should be attached to it.”

Sinha’s admiration for the Bihar CM is no secret to anyone. He’s described Nitish Kumar as ‘the best chief minister the state has ever had.’ He was also one of those critics, who had opposed the idea of projecting Modi as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.

Not so long ago, he had also skipped a high-profile event organised by the BJP president Amit Shah, who flagged off over 200 high-tech raths (chariots) to kickstart the assembly campaign. The reason cited by him for his absence was that he was not invited by his own party.

BJP insiders say that the outspoken BJP leader has been unhappy about not being a cabinet berth in Modi’s cabinet post Loksabha elections. Another MP from Patna, Ram Kripal Yadav, who had defected from Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD, was made minister.
