The Bihar School Examination Board, also known as the BSEB, on Saturday announced the results for its Class 10th exams for 2019. The total pass percentage this year stood at 80.73%. However, the highlight of Saturday’s results was Jamui’s Simultala Awasiya Vidyalay, which dominated the list of toppers this year.
The school in Jamui had grabbed nine out of the top 10 spots in the list. The top eight students were from the same school. They are Sawan Raj Bharti, Rounit Raj, Priyanshu Raj, Adarsh Ranjan, Aditya Roy, Praveen Prakhar, Harash Kumar and Roshan Kumar. Mohammad Saif Alam and Mohammad Shakil, who grabbed 16th and 17th positions across the state, too belong to the same school in Jamui.
The BSEB had declared its Class 12 results last week in record time. By declaring the results for Class 10, the BSEB became the country’s only board to release the results for Class 10. This is a record on its own because the Class 10 results were declared in June last year.
This year, for the first time, at least 50 percent questions of every subject had objective questions.
First topper Sawan Raj Bharti scored 486 out of 500, while Rounit Raj, Priyanshu Raj secured 481 and 480 respectively. Amongst the girls, Prerna Raj scored 457, followed by Pragya and Shikha Kumari getting 90.8 per cent. The third topper Annu Priya Kumari got 90.4 per cent.
The Simultala residential school is a dream project of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who had inaugurated the school in August 2010. It is modelled along the lines of the famous Netarhat Residential School, now in Jharkhand. Students must pass entrance tests to get admission in this school.
