In another blow to Congress party, former DCW chairperson, Barkha Shukla Singh has shot off a letter to media making grave charges against the Delhi Congress president, Ajay Maken.
In her letter released to media, Singh, also slammed the Congress vice president, Rahul Gandhi, for allegedly ignoring party workers’ complaint against Maken.
“On the day of Navratra on March 28, I along with a number of other fasting women workers of the party, tried to meet Rahul Gandhi. But we were rudely told that he didn’t care about Navratra and asked us to go home. The same night, he was partying at Shangri La hotel,” she said at a press conference, flashing a purported video of Rahul inside the hotel,” Singh was quoted by India Today.
The former chief of the Delhi Commission for Women also accused Maken of “misbehaving” with her and other office bearers of the Delhi Women’s Congress. “When the same was brought to the notice of Rahul Gandhi, our pleas fell on deaf ears,” she alleged.
“It is sheer hypocrisy that when (BJP leader) Vinay Katiyar makes absurd remarks about Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi’s office expects us to protest against the same. But when we complain of Ajay Maken abusing and threatening us, we are told to take the matter with Maken himself,” she said.
Today’s development came just two days after the party was rocked by the report of Arvinder Singh Lovely joining the BJP. While discussing the fallout on ABP News, Maken had broken down.
Delhi is scheduled to have its civic body polls on 23 April with the ruling BJP, Congress and AAP vying to establish supremacy in the municipal corporations.
