UP minister Azam Khan’s ‘beautiful woman’ jibe for Smriti Irani stirs new controversy


Uttar Pradesh minister and senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Tuesday caused a new controversy with his ‘beautiful woman’ jibe for the Union HRD Minister, Smriti Irani.

Responding to Iran’s reported comments on minority institutions, Khan said that Jamia Millia Islamia, AMU and Johar university will not be surrendered to ‘beautiful woman’.

Irani had reportedly said that a university could not be called a minority institution when the country was secular.

Narendra Modi government has recently moved Supreme Court with a plea claiming Aligarh Muslim University was not a minority institution.

The controversial UP minister also took a dig at Iran’s educational qualification saying that ‘a class 12 ‘failed’ minister is hatching a conspiracy to snatch the minority institutions from Muslims.’

He added, “India will not be governed by the rules of RSS but by Indian constitution. AMU represents the emotion of lakhs of Muslims and it is not given as a charity.”
