Vijendra Gupta, the BJP’s leader of opposition in Delhi’s assembly, created a new controversy by standing on the bench.
His action earned him condemnation from the rivals MLAs and the Speaker.
The decision by Gupta to stand the bench was in protest against the Speaker for allegedly not giving him a chance to speak when the assembly was in session.
The assembly is currently in session for two days to discuss the corruption of MCD.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who found Gupta’s action quite amusing and was seen laughing, later took to Twitter to describe the incident as “shocking.”
Shocking. Absolutely shocking https://t.co/g9HdUlk2NG
