A court in Mumbai on Wednesday granted bail to another terror accused in Malegaon blasts case, Sameer Kulkarni. He was arrested arrested for his alleged involvement in the September 2008 Malegaon blasts, that killed seven people and injured more than 100.
Kulkarni was granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000 on the grounds of parity, as several other terror accused in the case including Lt Col Prasad Purohit, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and retired Army Major Ramesh Upadhyay, have already been given bail, reported PTI.
Seven people were killed in a bomb blast on 29 September, 2008, at Malegaon, a communally-sensitive textile town in Nasik district of north Maharashtra
A special MCOCA court had earlier ruled that the ATS had wrongly applied this law against Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, Purohit and nine others
The 4,000-page charge sheet had alleged that Malegaon was selected as the blast target because of a sizeable Muslim population there. It had named Thakur, Purohit and co-accused, Swami Dayanand Pandey as the key conspirators. However, Thakur was last year given clean chit by the NIA.
