All ICAI exams postponed in view of Ayodhya verdict, Aligarh Muslim University suspends classes and tests


The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has said that it has decided to postpone all ‘examinations of the ICAI namely Foundation Paper 1, Final Paper 5, IRM Paper1, INTT AT and DISA ET Paper’ in view of the planned Ayodhya verdict by the Supreme Court today. All these exams were scheduled for 9 November.

The notification by the ICAI said that these exams, scheduled for 9 November ‘on all India basis and abroad stand postponed to a later date which shall be announced separately.’

Elsewhere, the Aligarh Muslim University too issued a circular stating that ‘all the classes, tests etc of Aligarh Muslim University will remain suspended and all the University Schools will remain closed on 9th and 11th November respectively.’ The note by the university registrar, however, said that the university offices will remain open and function as usual on both days.

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to close both private and government schools on 9 and 11 November. All private and government schools in Madhya Pradesh too will remain closed on Saturday.

In a late-night notification, the Supreme Court on Friday said that it will deliver the much-awaited verdict on the Ayodhya land dispute on Saturday. The five-judge Bench of the Supreme Court has been hearing the case on a day-to-day basis. A notice by the Supreme Court registrar said, “Take notice that the matter above mentioned will be listed tomorrow i.e. 09.11.2019 (Saturday) at 10.30 AM for pronouncement of judgment in Chief Justice’s Court before the Bench comprising Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble SA Bobde, Hon’ble Dr. DY Chandrachud, Hon’ble Ashok Bhushan, Hon’ble S Abdul Nazeer.”
