Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday took to Twitter to respond to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, who had taken a dig at the opposition with a ‘cock-a-snook’ tweet to highlight that even the alliance by non-BJP parties were not enough to stop the BJP from repeating 2014 performance.

Even though Adityanath is not known for tweeting in English, he used the language to express his sentiments on the opposition unity. He wrote, “People of Uttar Pradesh will cock-a-snook at ‘Bua and Babua’ Alliance. Time for casteism, nepotism and corruption is over now and politically vigilant people of UP will make sure that 5 multiplied by zero results into zero this time.” The hashtag used by Adityanath implied that his party will win more than 74 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in this year’s elections.

Yadav was quick to respond to the English tweet, posted from Adityanath’s official Twitter handle. Writing in Hindi, Yadav wrote, “Mr Chief Minister, we could not understand. Please tell us the meaning of cock a snook in Hindi. Also, even better would be if you can show us with practical example so that ordinary citizen understand what they are expected to do.”

UP will go to Lok Sabha polls in seven stages with the counting being scheduled for 23 May.
