AIADMK MP S Rajendran died in a car crash on Saturday after his car hit a road divider near Tindivanam, in Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu. Police have launched an investigation into his death.
While Rajendran died on the spot, his driver was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he’s receiving treatment to his injuries. Local reports suggest that the AIADMK MP had not starpped himself with a seat-belt when his car met with an accident.
Rajendran sustained injuries to his head and chest, resulting in his instant death, said local media reports. According to local police, the accident may have taken place due to over-speeding of his car.
The 62-year-old parliamentarian had also served as a member of the Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
