Maintaining law and order and providing safety to citizen was a big poll promise of the BJP in the just concluded assembly elections. However, despite the party winning a historic mandate, the Yogi Adityanath government has failed to check the rising graph of crime in the state.
Saharanpur and Sambhal have been adversely affected by communal clashes while members of Adityanath’s militant outfit, Hindu Yuva Vahini, were allegedly responsible for lynching an elderly Muslim man on the suspicion of helping a boy from his community elope with a Hindu girl.
Muslims in a village in Sambhal have been forced to flee after communal clashes erupted there.
In Saharanpur, the local BJP MP had led a mob to cause law and order situation by allegedly vandalising the official residence of the city’s SSP Love Kumar.
Far from taking punitive action against the goon MP, the state government had removed the top cop.
