Chatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti , the student wing of AAP on Monday held a Tiranga march today to mark the 107th birth anniversary of revolutionary and freedom fighter Shivaram Rajguru.

The march started from Vishva Vidyalaya metro station and proceeded to cover several colleges in Delhi University’s North campus.

More than 1000 DU students reportedly took part in Tiranga March with almost everyone wearing the CYSS cap and waving the Indian tricolour.

The organisers claimed that the march was aimed at raising awareness on selfless political participation among students and highlighting the issues such as education, employment, facilities that matter to the students rather than ‘big money and aggressive and divisive nature that has come to define student politics.’

“This march is in an honour to Rajguru who gave his life for the nation. He set a path for the youth of the country to follow and stood as an epitome for patriotism,” Anupam Yadav, head of the Delhi unit of CYSS said, was quoted by IANS.

AAP leader Dilip Pandey also joined the students.

The twitter response to the march has been quite vocal too.

User Gajendra Chauhan tweeted, “New era of student politics is beginning against the money/muscle/goon politics. Youth is joining & supporting AAP CYSS.”

Another user Roshan tweeted, “Student politics has been a cesspool of overgrown goons pretending to be students. That changes today with @CYSSIndia’s #TirangaMarch in DU.”
Shivaram Rajguru (1908-1931) from Maharashtra was an associate of Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev. He was hanged at the young age of 22 for the murder of a British police officer who they believed was responsible for the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.
