AAP protests outside Smriti Irani’s house

Hundreds of angry protesters belonging to Aaam Aadmi Party have gathered outside the house of the Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani.

They are demanding the resignation of Irani for possessing fake degree. AAP says that Irani must quit on the grounds of morality as the charges against her were ‘serious.

Police say that they have arrangements in place should AAP workers decide to take law in their own hands. The use of water canon can’t be ruled out to contain the protesters.

Opposition parties have stepped up pressure against Smriti Irani after a court in Delhi found the complaint against her educational qualification maintainable.

Delhi’s Patiala House Court has now decided to hear petition challenging Smriti Irani’s education qualification and  set 28 August as the day of hearing.

Protests against Irani come after the opposition parties’ demand for the sacking of Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhra Raje and Dushyant Singh

Congress party too staged a big protest outside the BJP’s headquarter at Delhi’S Ashoka Road demanding the resignations of Sushma, Raje, Irani and Pankaja Munde.

On Wednesday, fresh allegations of corruption to the tune of Rs 206 crore were reported against the Maharshtra’s BJP minister Pankaja Munde.
