Aam Aadmi Party has received an income tax notice for Rs 30 crore over what’s being termed as violations in donations. The Income Tax department has also asked the party to file its explanation by 7 December.
The notice also has the list of donors, who made donations for more than Rs 20,000. In its annual tax assessment for 2014-15 the party had submitted its taxable income of Rs 68.44 crore.
This comes just a day after the AAP celebrated its 5th anniversary at Delhi’s Ramlila ground. Speaking at the occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had vowed to uproot the BJP government over corruption charges.
Urging his supporters, he had said that just as they had helped him bring down the Congress government, the time for the BJP’s end too was ‘coming soon.’
He said, “Vyapam scam, Rafale scam, Birla diaries, Sahara diaries. Even judges are not safe it seems. Just as you had uprooted the Congress, the time for BJP too is coming.”
