A day after his 46th birthday, the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said that that he was travelling abroad for a ‘few days’ while thanking those who wished him on his birthday.
Gandhi, however, did not specify his destination and the purpose of travel.
He tweeted, “Traveling out of the country for a few days on a short visit. Thanks again to all who met & wished me y’day, truly grateful for your affection!.”

Gandhi’s unannounced leave from the country for 56 days last year had caused the party much embarrassment as the BJP hurled attack at the Congress VP.
Gandhi’s decision to go on a leave comes just weeks after his party has faced string of defeats in assembly elections in Kerala and Assam.
There are speculation that he may be elevated to the post of Congress President soon.
