75-year-old armed forces veteran, who protested on OROP at Jantar Mantar arrested by Haryana Police

Haryana Police arrested a 75-year-old armed forces veteran on Thursday evening.

Wing Commander (Retd) CK Sharma, according to his daughter, was picked up by police from home.

Wing Cdr Sharma had protested at Jantar Mantar demanding the One Rank One Pension.

Daughter Nisha Sharma took to Facebook to post the following message, “Wing Commander C K Sharma aged 75 yrs who has been very active in OROP protest at Jantar Mantar has been arrested this evening where he was just picked up from his bed (he has been hospitalised and sick for the last 2 weeks) we are absolutely unaware of where he is, the police is refusing to tell us. He is spending the night in jail on fake charges and being presented at Gurgaon District Court tomorrow morning at 9 am.

“My father has fought both the wars for India. He has never never stolen Rs 1 all his life. And he is spending the night with diabetes, hyper tension and a heart condition. I request all to please support the man who has supported countless widows and armed forced personnel. This is political vendetta. Please come for support.”

Nisha said that that five policemen had on Thursday evening ‘barged into my parents house, threw his phones away and physically picked him up.’

Major General (Retd) Satbir Singh, who’s leading the OROP movement, tweeted, “this is utter high headedness of the Police against all norms in violation of Court orders. Please releas imdt. (sic).”
