60-year-old man walks on road with severed head of his wife


In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old man was spotted walking on the road with a severed head in Katraj, near Pune, on Friday. The man had held the severed  head in one hand and an axe in the other.

According to the police, Ramachandra Chowhan allegedly beheaded his 55-year-old wife Sonabai and then roamed around with her head, until a traffic police constable stopped him and arrested him.


Chowhan, who works as a watchman, had suspected that his wife was having an illicit affair with someone and was thus enraged. He, therefore, her head with the axe.

In a sequence of pictures taken by locals, two policemen could be seen rushing towards Chowhan, who was carrying his wife’s head. The constable quickly covered the head with a cloth.


The local police then arrested Chowhan.
