Police in Delhi said on Thursday night that six people had been killed after a part of a factory in Sudarshan Park in Moti Nagar area collapsed. Eight people have been rescued and sent to a nearby hospital for treatment even as the rescue operation continued.
Some reports said that the two-storeyed building, where ceiling fans were being made, collapsed due to an explosion. The reason for the explosion is not known yet. As many as eight fire engines have been deployed to control the fire.
“The incident took place in West Delhi’s Sudarshan Park area. Six people have died while eight were rescued and sent to hospital. The building comprises ground and the first floors,” Monika Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Monika Bhardwaj, was quoted as saying.
More than 15 people were believed to be working in the factory when the explosion brought down a part of the building.
