503 out of 510 Muzaffarnagar riot cases investigated, no probe in Sangeet Som yet: SIT

The Special Investigation Team on Monday announced that it had completed the investigations in 503 out of the 510 cases of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.

Talking to reporters in Muzaffarnagar, Vinod Kumar Pandey, Additional SP(SIT), said, “We have completed the probe of 503 cases registered against the Muzaffarnagar riots.”

“We have not received the technical reports concerning the remaining cases thus the delay,” Pandey was quoted by news agency PTI.

He said that the SIT had sought report from the Facebook’s headquarter in the US, regarding the video uploaded by the BJP MLA.

SIT claimed that more more than 1,481 people found involved in the riots had been arrested during the course of the investigation.

Muzaffarnagar riots in August/September, 2013 had left over 60 persons killed and more than 40,000 displaced.
