Just two days after a 7-year-old child was sexually assaulted and had his throat slit allegedly by a bus conductor at Ryan International School in Gurgaon, another episode of horror has surfaced in Delhi. A 5-year-old girl child has been raped by a peon in Tagore Public School in north east Delhi in Shahdara.
A horrified Delhi chief chief minister tweeted saying he had ordered a magisterial probe of the shocking incident.
His tweet read, “Shameful. Won’t be tolerated. Police doing its job. Ordered magsterial enquiry. Will develop protocol 4 all schools 2 ensure children safety (sic).”
Delhi Commission for Women chief, Swati Maliwal, said, “Developing protocols 4 schools a very crucial step 2 ensure safety of children. Strict action shud be taken against schools violating them.”
The accused, Vikas, has been arrested. He’s been working at the school for nearly three years, said the police. Vikas allegedly took the girl to an empty class room after handing over lunch boxes to teachers in the afternoon. After sexually assaulting the girl, the sex predator threatened the girl of dire consequences if she told anyone about being raped.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said, “Vikas lured the minor with a candy and took her inside the empty classroom where he sexually assaulted her. The matter was reported to the police after 3 p.m., when the minor complained of pain in her abdomen. Her mother noticed bleeding in private parts.”
