Noida-based fashion designer Shipra Malik found, police says she was never abducted

Days after she went missing under mysterious circumstances, Noida-based fashion designer Shipra Malik was found in Gurgaon on Friday.

DIG Meerut, Laxmi Singh said that she was not abducted but had left for ashram of her volition after a family dispute.

No injuries were detected in the medical check up of Malik, says the DIG.

She told reporters, “She came back after seeing pictures of her family on TV and after being informed of missing case that had been filed. She called her husband around 1-1:30 in night and informed him of her whereabouts in Gurgaon. As per her statements given so far,it doesn’t seem to be case of kidnapping. Our team has left for verification of her statement.”

She said that Malik was too embarrassed to admit and cooked up abduction story.

Shipra Malik was reported missing on 29 February with her car found abandoned 500 m from her residence in Sector 37 of Noida.

The police helpline 100 was dialed from her mobile phone. The duration of the call was just 10 seconds and she did not speak anything.

Shipra’s husband, Chetan Malik lodged a complaint of abduction at the Noida police station.

The police have dispatched teams to Lajpat Nagar which was the last known location of the fashion designer.

Married to a construction company owner, Malik runs a boutique in Noida.
