‘Odd Even formula passes its real test on Monday’

After a successful first two days of Delhi’s ambitious Odd-Even formula, the experiment faced its real test on Monday, when the private offices and schools opened after Christmas/NewYear vacations.

Contrary to the apprehensions in certain quarters, the commuters were largely seen as abiding by the rules. Monday being the day for cars with even number, there were not many cars seen with odd number.

Traffic was reported to be considerably better even at those junctions, which were otherwise notorious for heavy congestion.

Odd-Even formula is the brainchild of Delhi government to curb the rising air pollution in the city.

Here’s how social media users reported about the impact on traffic on the day of its real test.

Kalindi Kunj-Okhla Road

Ring Road

Seelampur-Maujpur Road

DND Flyway Toll Plaza

Defence Colony flyover

Delhi High Court

Rajiv Chowk Metro Station

Speaking to jantakareporter.com on Saturday, the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had thanked the public and police for making the plan successful.

However, plenty of users took to twitter to highlight how the burden on public transport particularly on metro train services had caused chaos at Delhi’s Rajiv Chowk metro station.

The image of unprecedented crowd went viral on twitter and withing minutes Rajiv Chowk was trending nationally.

  1. Why is it that odd even formula had to be introduced by AAP since 1947 ? Over the last 65 years no Government, no political party, no politician, no public personality ever bothered – let alone introduce such a measure. Now that AAP has introduced, there are elements to oppose and discredit this move instead of encouraging and praising such advance and progressive thinking of a political party. Other political parties ruled by uncultured and corrupt politicians have reduced India into the culture of scavenging on Anglo-American left overs and embezzling public funds for family benefits. It is disgraceful for any country to even allow such political parties to contest election. Are Indians civilized enough to grasp the real significance of what AAP is doing and who and why they are opposed?
