Clashes break out after Patidars protest in Ramdev’s camp in Gujarat


A camp organised by Yoga guru Baba Ramdev in Surat was attacked by Patidar protesters on Wednesday after reports in local media quoted him saying that Patels ‘should think of the nation first.’

The protesters came inside the camp disguised as participants before raising slogans such as ‘Jai Sardar, Jai Patidar.’

Baba Rmdev has been holding yoga camp in Surat’s Haridham Party plot since Monday.

Eye witnesses said the youths were aggrieved over Baba’s reported comments in the media. Ramdev says he has been misquoted.

A clash broke out when Ramdev’s security guards intervened.

Police Inspector V A Patel said a complaint had been lodged in the matter.

Patidars have been protesting against reservation for several months and their leader Hardik Patel is currently facing sedition charges, slapped by the Gujarat’s BJP government.
