16 December victim’s parents arrested by Delhi Police, second time in as many days

Second day in a row, the parents of 16 December rape victim, Jyoti Singh, were arrested for protesting against the release of the juvenile rapist.

Sunday saw a huge gathering of people at India Gate to protest the release of the juvenile offender in the horrific December 16 gangrape.

Reports suggested that the police had imposed section 144 at India Gate to avoid violence.

The juvenile convict, who was also the most brutal, was released and sent to an NGO at an undisclosed destination with police no longer guarding him on Sunday afternoon.

His release came after a huge drama on Saturday night with the Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal moving Supreme Court for urgent hearing. The Supreme Court, however, refused the urgent hearing and has pushed the matter for hearing on Monday.

  1. What a circus! The convict can’t be held up after the sentenced is served. Why these guys are not protesting for conviction of rapists who are yet to be arrested
