3 children including six month old baby die in Delhi slum fire


A fire in Delhi’s slums dwellings on Saturday night has killed three children including a six month old baby.

The fire destroyed dozens of slums in Delhi’s New Usmanpur area.

According to reports, among those who were killed included 6-month-old Mumbark, 6-year-old Reena and 7-year-old Meena.

An eyewitness told reporters that he saw the roof of a slum collapse, the mother was able to come out but she couldn’t save her child, who remained trapped inside the slum.

It’s not clear what caused the fire, but the blast in a gas cylinder is believed to be the reason for the fire.

LS Yadav, the SDM (Seelampur) said that the fire tenders were quick to reach and they could control the fire in time. The administration is now busy making alternative arrangements for accommodation for those whose houses were burnt.
