Rape accused BJP leader sent to five years in jail in Madhya Pradesh

A district court in Bhopal has given a five year jail sentence to a senior BJP leader, Chetan Patidar on Thursday.

Patidar, a former district panchayat head and a prominent BJP leader, was accused of raping a minor. He was arrested soon after the court pronounced its verdict.

According to MP-based Hindi portal Nai Dunia, Patidar had joined BJP amidst huge fanfare in January this year. The chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan himself was present to facilitate his inclusion in the party.
