AAP MLA arrested in a two-year-old rioting case, triggers twitter war

Delhi police on Thursday arrested AAP MLA, Akhilesh Tripathi, in a two-year-old rioting case. He is the fifth MLA to be arrested by Delhi police.
Tripathi, MLA from Model Town, has been sent to two day judicial custody.
According to police, they had no option but to arrest him after a lower court in Rohini issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
Earlier this month, Tripathi was involved in another controversy after reports of him accepting false medical claims surfaced. The MLA had to return close to Rs 2 lakh to the Vidhan Sabha secretariat. He had allegedly made insurance claims towards treatment of his mother.
AAP has always accused Delhi police of carrying out vindictive politics at the behest of the central government after the centre’s ruling party, the BJP, suffered humiliating defeat at the hands of Kejri-led party in February this year.
