Police in Delhi say that a 16-year-old girl was killed and her body chopped into three pieces by the person who had brought her from Jharkhand to get her employed as a domestic help in Delhi, after she demanded her salary.
The body parts of the girl was found in a drain on 4 May, a day after she was killed, reported PTI.
The cops said that they began to scan the footage from CCTV cameras installed in Mianwali Nagar and analyse the tenants of nearly 200 houses in the area after the body was found. It was during the scanning operation, the cops learnt that one of the tenants, a resident of Jharkhand, was missing since the girl’s killing.
A raid was conducted at his village but he was not there. However, they soon found out that the man, identified as Manjeet Karketa, was likely to visit his rented accommodation in Delhi on 17 May. A trap was laid and he was arrested. Manjeet has confessed to his crime adding that he kileld the girl with the help of two other persons including a woman.
During interrogation, he revealed that the three persons used to lure young and poor girls from Jharkhand promising them attractive employment in Delhi, police said.
Police said that the accused along with his accomplices, Sahu and Gauri, ran an agency that hired poor teenage girls from Jharkhand, reported IANS. They would get these girls hired as maids in Delhi. The gang did the same with the victim, identified as Soni Kumari.
When the victim demanded her salary of over a year, as she wanted to return to Jharkhand, the accused allegedly killed her. He later chopped her body and threw it in an open drain.
