1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook in a single day, A new ‘milestone’ for Zuckerberg

The World’s largest social networking site has created a new record for itself.

The famous founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, announced on his Facebook page. “We just passed an important milestone. For the first time ever, one billion people used Facebook in a single day. On Monday, 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family.”

Thanking all his users, Zuckerberg further added, “the milestone was just the beginning of connecting the whole world. A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values.”

The success in reach has also translated in huge revenue generation for the social media site. The revenue for the the second quarter registered a considerable jump to $4.04 bn from $2.91 bn, surpassing analyst expectations.

The company has been focusing on mobile advertising and it’s recently acquired instant messaging ventures Instagram and   WhatsApp messaging service.
