“We did it PAPPA”: Actor Riteish Deshmukh’s moving post leaves Twitterati in tears, evokes reactions from Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor

Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh’s moving post on the election victories of his two brothers in the just-concluded Maharashtra assembly polls has gone viral evoking reactions from the stalwarts of the Hindi film industry. Among those who have reacted to Riteish’s tweet are Anil Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and his friend Abhishek Bachchan among others.

Reacting to his brothers’ wins from Latur City and Latur Rural seats, Reteish wrote, “We did it PAPPA!!! @AmitV_Deshmukh wins Latur (city) by 42000+ votes for the 3rd consecutive time. @MeDeshmukh wins Latur (rural) by 1,20,000 votes. Thank you people of Latur for this faith & trust.”

Riteish’s social media post also accompanied a moving photo of the actor with a portrait of his late father and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh being displayed prominently in the background.



As expected, his post went viral in no time eliciting overwhelming responses from celebrities and social media users alike. Rishi Kapoor tweeted, “Many congratulations to all of you for the legacy to continue. All the best!” Actor Anil Kapoor commented, “Congratulations on the incredible win! Your father must be so proud right now, just like we are!” Even Vivek Oberoi, who’s a known supporter of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tweeted, “Every father’s dream is for his children to carry forward his legacy…..today #VilasRao uncle would be so proud! Congrats @AmitV_Deshmukh & @MeDeshmukh! May you live his dreams for the people of Latur!”

Abhishek Bachchan simply wrote, “Congratulations!”

Many social media users said that Reteish’s photo with his father in the background had made them cry.

In the elections for 288-seat Maharashtra assembly, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance saw their overall tally come down to 161 from 185 five years ago. The Congress-NCP alliance 102 setas, 17 more than its tally in 2014.

While Dhiraj Vilasrao Deshmukh defeated his Shiv Sena rival by more than 1.30 lakh votes in Latur Rural seat, Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh beat BJP’s Shailesh Govindkumar Lahoti by more than 40,000 votes.

Riteish’s later father was a tall Congress leader before his death in 2012.

On the work front, Riteish featured in Housefull 4, which was released on Friday. The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kulhari, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Chunky Pandey, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
