Deepika Padukone has revealed that Irrfan Khan and not Amitabh Bachchan was her all-time favourite actor. She had shared the screen space with both of them in Piku.
In an interview to India Today, the popular Bollywood actor was asked to choose who she felt was the most professional actor, according to her. Deepika replied, “I think all of the current generation, whether it’s male or female, I think everyone is disciplined, dedicated, committed and focussed. I don’t think you can function today without having all of this. Talent is one aspect of it, but with the talent comes being extremely professional and disciplined. You can’t afford to being anything but that.”
She was then asked if she was reluctant to spell out her favourite co-star such as Ranveer Singh, her to-be husband, or even Amitabh Bachchan, who she worked with in Piku. No sooner had the India Today journalist Rajdeep Sardesai finished eulogising Amitabh Bachchan for his professionalism even at the age of 76, Deepika interjected and said, “It may not be headline worthy for you but Irrfan Khan is my most favourite co-star.”
Visibly surprised by Deepika’s answer, Sardesai continued with his question and asked the Padmaavat actor the reason behind her preference for Irrfan seemingly over Amitabh Bachchan. Deepika replied, “I don’t think Piku would have been as special for me if he (Irrfan) wasn’t a part of that film. I think somwhere we pushed each other and brought out the best in each other.”
Deepika even revealed that Piku was the most favourite film for her even more than those films, where she acted opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
Irrfan Khan is currently being treated for cancer in a London hospital.
She confessed to being in awe of Amitabh Bachchan before she acted opposite him in Piku, but added that the feeling of being overawed by Bachchan’s stardom ceased to exist once the camera’s spotlight fell on her.
Deepika had recently officially announced her wedding date with boyfriend and Padmaavat co-star Ranveer Singh. Taking to her social media pages, Deepika had written, “With the blessings of our families, it gives us immense joy in sharing that our wedding is set to take place on the 14th and 15th of November, 2018.”
