It’s not often that we see a 78-year-old give a young Bollywood star a run for his or her money on the dance floor.
However, limitations of age are easily thrown out of the window when the septuagenarian person in question happens to be ever-so-flamboyant politician Dr Farooq Abdullah.
The veteran politician emerged as the biggest star of the evening on Tuesday night during a star-studded event organised by the NDTV to honour Indians Of The Year in Delhi.
Dr Abdullah was invited on the stage to hand over the award to Ranveer Singh in the entertainment category.
Journalist Barkha Dutt politely requested Dr Abdullah to join Ranveer on the dance floor. A ‘young’ Dr Abdullah readily accepted the challenge and let go all his inhibitions attached to his celebrity status to show just how nimble-footed he can be even at the age of 78.
His moves left the audience spellbound! Such was the magic of Dr Abdullah’s dancing talent that even Barkha couldn’t stop shaking a leg on live TV.
She later tweeted;

Barkha’s colleague Vikram Chandra tweeted;

Responding to Vikram’s tweet Ranveer tweeted calling the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister as ‘too cool for school.

The other highlights of the event was the NDTV founder Dr Prannoy Roy’s opening speech where he minced no words in slamming the anonymous twitter trolls, who have questioned the channel’s journalistic credibility in the past. His hard-hitting comments aimed at the twitter critics received plenty of plaudits by the audience which included founders of Flipkart, Snapdeal, Zomato and Paytm among others.
They were joined by Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Sania Mirza and Irrfan Khan.
