Comedian-actor Sunil Grover has opened up about why he did not attend his former co-star and friend Kapil Sharma’s wedding last week. Sunil had quit The Kapil Sharma Show after a mid-air brawl while returning from Australia last year.
Sunil said that his past animosity wasn’t the reasons for his decision to skip Kapil’s wedding. He told Aaj Tak channel, “I couldn’t go there because I was shooting.”
When asked why even Bollywood stars did not turn up at Kapil’s wedding in Jalandhar in Punjab, Sunil replied, “May be the flights were full, I don’t know. I am sure some people may have turned up at the wedding. Weddings are usually private affairs. The most important thing is for your loved ones to be there. Even my friends from Bombay, associated with the show, were there. They were dancing.”
Sunil said that his best wishes were with Kapil for starting his marital life. He jokingly said, “Up until now he joked about wives. Now he will realise what wives are made of.”
When asked to comment about his mid-air brawl, Sunil again joked about the incident and said that perhaps he was not fit for flying since he came from a small town. “Perhaps, if we had taken a road trip from Australia, this fight wouldn’t have happened.” he said.
Sunil said that he wanted to remember the good memories about his relationship with Kapil. He said, “Together we’ve produced some great works, we’ve made people laugh together. Kapil is very talented and we’ve learnt a lot from each other. I have those beautiful memories left in me about our association.”
Kapil Sharma got married with girlfriend Ginni Chatrath last week at a function in Jalandhar. Though a host of TV stars attended his wedding, no prominent Bollywood names were able to join the celebration. Many felt that this was largely due to the fact that his wedding had coincided with the big fat wedding of Isha Ambani, the daughter of India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani.
