Union Ministyer Smriti Irani on Thursday shared a photo from Isha Ambani’s wedding party, held in Mumbai, where she also met Saif Ali Khan, who she wrote had given tips on how to survive in the entertainment industry 23 years ago.
Irani, who started her career as a model before joining active politics, posted a photo of herself with Saif and wrote, “23 years ago a rising Star gave a rookie from Delhi advice on how to survive in the chaos of the maximum city; a few tips here & there as to how her dreams can take flight. Little did he know the rookie will turn into a Jumbo Jet ?Thank you for the memories #saifalikhan.”

Her post evoked mixed reactions from her fans on Instagram. One user wrote, “A very impressive lady …You are too awesome. Just that you are not taking care of your body this days of hectic schedule.” Another fan wrote, “Smriti, you have proved to the world that a women is strong and ambitious to win in all situations. You have become an icon and a role model for many…..thanks and stay blessed.”
However, more politically savvy followers of Irani linked her photo with Saif to Uttar Pradesh Chief Yogi Adityanath’s dislike for anything Muslim. In a reference to Adityanath’s obsession with name-changing drive, one user wrote, “Hope Yogi ji doesn’t change Saif’s name after seeing this photo of you together.” Another user asked, “Dint he give you advice about obtaining a fake degree?”
Irani had shot to fame with her powerful acting in Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi, where she played the lead protagonist of Tulsi. She went on to act in few other TV serials before joining the BJP.
As a politician, she has yet to win a single election while her stint in the government has been replete with controversies.
