Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha has been known for plainspeak and has never shied away from airing his opinion on social or political issues. As BJP MP, Sinha has often targeted his own party leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the poor governance and their questionable policies.
On Wednesday, Sinha was in Mumbai to attend a book release function. Speaking at the event to launch the book A Touch of Evil by author Dhruv Somani, the outspoken BJP lawmaker said that he was fortunate to not see his name in the list of those, who were recently called out for MeToo allegations.
He said, “In the era of #MeToo,there is no hesitation in saying that behind every successful man’s fall also, there is a woman.”

Sinha was also quoted as saying, “I really call myself fortunate that in today’s times, despite everything that I’ve done, my name hasn’t come out in the #MeToo movement. Hence, I listen to my wife and often take her as a shield with me so that even if there’s nothing, I can show, ‘I am happily married, my life is good’.”
No sooner his comments MeToo movement were published on social media, he became a target of widespread criticism as many found his comments touch insensitive. Borrowing from his famous Bollywood dialogue Khamosh, many social media users advised him to stay quiet if he could not support the movement.

#MeToo, khamosh!! Abe chaparganju. The world knows about you.

This guy ??♀️ You should have really exercised your “Khamosh” ?
User Sayantan Ghosh wrote,
Ironic that the Hindi film hero who rose to fame by saying “Khamosh” to the entire country, doesn’t himself know when to shut up.
User Arpit Bhatnagar tweeted;
The only time he should have reiterated his dialogue “Khamosh”!
