Colors TV’s Bigg Boss show saw its host Salman Khan marry ‘Katrina Kaif’ on a national TV as he welcomed his ‘wife’ with a garland of onions around her neck. The occasion was the Weekend Ka Vaar, where Salman welcomed comedian-actor Sunil Grover.
Sunil Grover, who played the famous character of Guthi on Colors TV’s Comedy Nights with Kapil Sharma, made a rare appearance in her Guthi avatar once again on the Mukesh Ambani-owned TV channel. Guthi’s appearance was, however, to woo Salman Khan and to enact a wedding scene with him.
In the course of the act, Sunil Grover also described herself as Katrina Kaif to which Salman Khan also couldn’t get himself to disagree.
Guthi went on to say that Salmans’s father Salim Khan and other family members were very much in favour of their relationship adding that the senior Khan had given her the sindoor to her so she could tell Salman to apply it on her head. A funny scene ensued wherein Salman was seen applying the sindoor on Guthi’s knee since she had hair on her leg too.
In an attempt to draw attention to the prevailing exorbitant onion prices, Guthi later said that people should not consider her father to be a poor man, as he too gifted Salman a garland full of onions.
The scene around onion was in a sharp dig at the rising prices of essential commodities and the Narendra Modi government’s inability to check the price rise. The Modi government has come under flak after prices of onions, garlic and other vegetables rose sharply. In some parts of the country, one kg of onion was being sold at Rs 150 per kg.
Salman is known to be a close friend of Modi. It was, therefore, difficult to understand he agreed to be a part of a scene, which was taking a potshot at the Modi government’s poor governance.
The scene on Salman’s wedding also saw the Bollywood megastar becoming father of a baby, who resembled the actor’s looks from his film Tere Naam.
Salman had reportedly dated Katrina for a number of years before the couple split and the latter was romantically linked with Ranbir Kapoor.
