Last year, while on a field trip to Maharashtra, IAS topper Tina Dabi Khan was asked how she managed to look so fresh even after a long and gruelling day of work. While she sought to evade the question, Tina had held the pleasant weather of Maharashtra responsible for her glowing skin even ‘after the day’s work.’ Nine months later, when she announced the launch of her website to act as an ‘online guru,’ she had shared how one of the secrets of looking fresh was water (both consumption and using micellar water as a cleanser). Tina had said that it was possible because of her emphasis on starting her day with at least a couple of glasses of water.
According to the IAS topper from Delhi, ‘drinking as many glasses of water in a day really makes you feel good from the inside (no gut problems) and gives your skin a beautiful glow.’
Later, Tina also revealed additional steps that she often undertook to improve her skin glow. The IAS topper, who’s now married to another topper from Kashmir, wrote that she also used micellar water to clean her face. “This (micellar water) works as the best daily clean-up. It takes out all the dirt and dust that gets accumulated after a day’s work. This is my current favourite and has worked wonders for me.”
Micellar water is made up of tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules suspended in soft water. It’s used as a facial wash, makeup remover and moisturiser all in one.
Dermatologist Hadley King of Skinney Medspa was quoted by Huffington Post as saying, “The idea is that micelles are attracted to dirt and oil, so they are able to draw out impurities without drying out the skin.” She went on to add that micellar water could be used as a facial wash, makeup remover and moisturizer all in one. Another skincare expert, Tabassum Mir had said, “It looks like water, it has the viscosity of water but when you put it on your finger and feel, it has a different texture than water.”
Tina’s beauty tips on how to ensure glowing skin will come in handy to millions of beauty conscious people across India, particularly during this hot and humid weather condition.
