Earlier this week, Karan Johar announced that his next big multi-starrer will be Takht, which has Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Janhvi Kapoor.
This was Janhvi’s second successive film with Karan after her debut film Dhadak crossed Rs 100 crore threshold at the box office. The box office performance of Dhadak was the best by any film with newcomers in the history of Bollywood. Karan’s own film Student Of The Year with newcomers such as Alia, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan had not performed so well in 2012.
Speaking for the first time since bagging the role, Janhvi said that she was still in ‘shock.’ “What can I say? I am still in shock. It hasn’t sunk in yet. It’s a big deal for me and I am so eternally grateful and feel so blessed that Karan (Johar) has allowed me to be part of this journey. I am so excited and hope to do a good job… I am just overwhelmed right now,” Janhvi was quoted by Midday website.
Janhvi was mercilessly trolled for insulting Alia while sharing the news about Takht as many fans were unhappy that the Dhadak star had deliberately not tagged the former on Instagram. She had later reportedly added Alia’s Instagram account in her post.
On Dhadak’s performance Janhvi said, “I am very happy and flattered. I hope that more people go, watch and like the film. Achieving the Rs 100 crore mark at the box-office means that lot of people have watched our film and showered their love upon our characters and the story…”
