Actor Priyanka Chopra is all set to tie the knot with her boyfriend Nick Jonas this year. The Quantico actor was engaged with Nick in a traditional Hindu ritual in Mumbai in August this year. Later, the couple was spotted in Rajasthan, giving rise to speculations that they were there to hunt for a wedding venue.
Several media reports have now said that Priyanka may get married in December this year, soon after Deepika Padukone ties the knot with Ranveer Singh. Priyanka enjoyed her bridal shower party in New York earlier this week, when she was joined by mother Madhu Chopra, Denise Miller Jonas, Sonali Bendre and Neetu Kapoor among others.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “Love, laughter and a room full of amazing ladies…and some special gentlemen (what a special surprise)! Thank you so much @mubinarattonsey and @anjula_acharia for throwing me such a memorable bridal shower that broke all the rules! My amazing friends and family who made me feel so special and loved, thank you. And to top it off @tiffanyandco ? Perfect! Here’s sharing it with you…”
Priyanka may invite her close friends in Bollywood for her wedding. They include Farhan Akhtar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Roy Kapur among others. She is also planning to invite her former co-star Salman Khan, with whom she fell out spectacularly recently when she walked out of Bharat. “Besides Salman, invitations will also be sent out to Arpita-Aayush, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail-Seema, Alvira-Atul Agnihotri and Salim Khan. The couple plans to host a 3-day grand celebration at Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur and 1500-2000 guests are expected to turn up,” a source close to Priyanka was quoted by Times Now.
It’s, however, not clear whether Salman will accept her invitation. When asked about Priyanka leaving Bharat midway, Salman had said with pains that he expected her to inform him about her planned engagement in advance.
Speaking to a leading newspaper, Salman had said, “It must have been very difficult for her to make this decision because she was very keen to work on this project. She (Priyanka) has called up Arpita a thousand times, saying, ‘I want to work with Salman’. She has even called up Ali (Abbas Zafar, director) and told him, ‘See if you can get me something in this film’.”
“She (Priyanka) had a reason to do that. It’s just that the project got stuck. Had we known earlier, we could have worked it out better. She was getting engaged and I told her, ‘If you are getting engaged, what’s the need (of exiting the project)?’ Then she said, ‘Shaadi karni hai’ to which I said ‘Toh shaadi kar lo’,” Salman added in the interview.
